Haha, pretty common for the period, but yeah I’d want to swap on Magnum 500s. I got my set of Mag 500's off of CL and they just need some paint and a set of new tires to wrap around them.

And if you’re lucky as hell like me you can pull off a deal like this one where I got paid to get a new set of wheels:

They’re not look-alikes, I don’t think. They’ve got the dual hole pattern and tatty little red orange rubber plugs you typically see only on the genuine article. The Jegs knockoffs and presumably others have a single pattern.

Sounds a lot like my life

This one looks to be in nice shape (no interior or engine bay pics) but it’s more than 3x the cost of my Montego coupe. 88 more cubic inches under the hood help that I’m sure.

Would it help if I told you that you could get a 429 in it? I wouldn’t pick this color either.

There’s one at a local shop near me here in Michigan that has a hood scoop on it too. I’m sure the scoop is aftermarket and I want it. Really want it.

The 4 speed is probably the craziest part of this. I doubt they were common on the Wagons.

Yeah it’s more than 3x the cost of my Montego.

It’s probably got solid floors, carpet, nice seats and a decent engine bay though.

It IS a big block manual. If he finds the right buyer it’s sold because they just don’t really exist anymore.

Even so, you know how I feel about Drag-Lites and Pro-Stars on street cars. It just evokes the “Monochrome Pro-Street” look that was so popular in the 80s and early 90s and didn’t do anyone any good.

Well, it’s actually hard to find manuals in the Montego MX’s . They were the higher trim and in the 60's an automatic was a nice luxury and was sought after. Mine is an MX as well. Much fake wood was gained by the MX label.

I actually just said to shop-teach too, I’ve never seen an MX with a manual. Assuming it’s stock that’s rare. The MX was like buying the “Limited” these days. High trim, so most optioned in the luxurious auto-trans, which would have been a C6 auto on the big block, those things are probably the toughest auto transmissions Ford ever built (and continued to use into the 90's!!)
